The Energy Star rating varies from product to product, as different products will have different attributes that are important in its energy efficiency. For an energy efficient window in Canada to receive the ENERGY STAR symbol, it needs to have an ER of 36 or higher and a U-Factor of 1.14 W/m2·K. The U-Factor relates to the rate of heat lost from a window installation, with the lower the number the more efficient.
